This year's Color Day Queen, Katherine Stimson, will be crowned by Freddy Beamer on May 9. Class senators have been elected, and Dick Brubaker will be the senior class president. On May 1 in the chapel, the annual Serenade Contest will occur. This year's Color day play to be performed by the Little Theater will be George Bernard Shaw's "Saint Joan."

This year's Color Day Pageant script has been selected, it is by Jane Wycoff and titled, "Audience with the Queen." The speaker for this years Commencement is a writer and editor from New York City, Mr. Norman Cousins. "The Glittering Gate," and "Church Street" are this being performed at this years freshman apprentice show on April 17 and 18, they are both one act plays. Dr. E. Wilson Lyon spoke yesterday evening in the Scott Auditorium, he was sponsored by the 1917 Alumni Lectureship, and spoke about, "The Basic Issues and Development in Contemporary France." On April 13 and 13, A. J. Muste, National Secretary of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, to speak on "The Christian Way to Deal with Communism and War."

George Bernard Shaw's "Saint Joan" kicked of the 1953 Color Day events last Wednesday. The northern Ohio conference on Preparation for Political Participation will take place May 8th and 9th at the Lake Shore Hotel. The Symphonic Band will present their outdoor concert on the quad on May 10th. Directed by Winford Logan, the commencement play "Night Must Fall" by Emlyn Williams, will be show June 5th and 6th.

The main speaker at this years 83rd commencement ceremony will be Mr. Norman Cousins, prominent editor of the Saturday Review of Literature. Nine seniors will perform their senior concert on June 5. Galpin Museum is housing the senior IS art projects for only two more days. This years commencement play is "Night Must Fall" by Emlyn Williams will be shown on June 5 and 6.

There are 350 new people on campus this year, 30 of them are transfers and 320 are freshman. The Student Senate had its first meeting last Monday to discuss the upcoming events of the year. The Chapel has had some renovation done over the summer in order to make accommodations for the new organ. There are 17 new faculty members on staff this year. The cornerstone for the new men's dormitory, to be known as Andrews Hall, was laid September 17th. The Student Christian Council has the goal of raising $3,000 at their fundraiser. Students may rent framed images to decorate their dorm walls at fifty cents per semester.

October 5th kicks off the Student Christian Council Fundraiser, their goal for this year is $3,000, and they are asking that each student try to donate at least $4. The men's pledging system has had a slight revision dealing with dates and time periods. October 5th additionally marks the beginning of co-ed dining on campus. It is being instituted for a four month trial period. An organ is arriving for the chapel and will be ready for use by mid-October. Junior and Seniors are eligible to submit their poetry to the National Poetry Association by November 5th.

There are 63 candidates running for the available 23 positions in student offices. One of the six candidates for Homecoming Queen will be crowned on October 17. A benefit concert will be given by Howard Shaw, baritone, and Robert Hill, pianist, on October 19th. The sculptures and prints of Thomas R. Lias, Director of the South Bend Art Association will be on display in the Wishart Museum for about a month. The marching band will be traveling to Grandville to play at the Denison football game.

Miss Pat Taft will be crowned as Homecoming Queen by the senate president at Saturday's homecoming festivities. Yesterday's election had a good number of people turn out, sixteen officers were chosen.

This weekend marks the beginning of the 35th annual homecoming celebration. At the Student Christian Council's bi-weekly meeting, they discussed the subject of Brotherhood meals. The Howard Shaw concert will occur on October 19th, featuring Robert Hill at the piano, five selections will be played. There is a section regarding Dean Young clarifying the campus car rules.

The Sadie Hawkins dance will take place on October 30th in Severance Gymnasium. Last Monday, the fourth Senate meeting of the year was held, they discussed the past elections, Freshman Pep Day, cheering at the football games, the tradition of prematurely burning the bonfires by the sophomores, and many other topics. Westminster Church has recently elected Jim Lindsay and Beth Irwin as their new student elders.

The men's new dormitory, Andrews Hall, will be completed for next fall. People of Wayne County have created a workshop to be held in Wooster's First Presbyterian Church from November 13th-14th. It is titled the World Peace Workshop. Approximately 200 students will be donating blood on November 6. The British government has established a number of annual Marshall Scholarships to enable American students to study at British universities. The cast has been announced for the production of "The Cocktail Party" by T. S. Eliot.

The college's radio station was able to broadcast the Student Faculty Relations Committee that was held last Monday. The Student Senate held a meeting last Tuesday, discussing the upcoming events and establishing a committee for creating a social calendar. The Chemistry Club will be going on a field trip to the Wooster Rubber Company on November 16. Eighty-three women were pledging "social clubs" this last week. One of the faculty recitals will take place on November 8 featuring Professors Daniel and Clarice Parmelee they will be performing three Beethoven sonatas.

Last year's Index has been awarded an All American rating from the Associated Collegiate Press and the National Scholastic Press Association. The Wooster World Peace Workshop is holding its sessions at the First Presbyterian church. Today's topic of discussion dealt with peace in relation to agriculture. The Young Republican Membership Drive will have C. William O'Neill-Attorney General of Ohio-as a speaker. The current art show in the Wishart Museum features home decorations, it will be open through November 23.

There are 153 new pledges for the eight fraternities on campus. The Chamber Orchestra will be performing a concert Sunday, November 22. A faculty recital will occur on December 6 featuring John Diercks and Alan Collins. The second show of the Community Concert Series will occur on December 9. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chase National Bank, John McCloy, will be speaking at the college on December 3rd. Four students that submitted their poems to the National Poetry Association will be put in the Annual Anthology of College Poetry.

The language departments are performing their one act plays tonight and tomorrow. Dr. Lean will be having his annual reading of the "Christmas Carol" on December 17. There will be a Christmas Oratorio on Sunday evening, and a Christmas pageant Monday evening. Wooster's literary society, Pembroke, will publish the first issue of its literary magazine on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1953. The Wishart museum's new exhibit features work from the art faculty of Bowling Green University. The exhibit is titled, "Objective."

The first page of this edition has the words "Merry Christmas" across the entire page. The 44th annual reading of Charles Dickens "Christmas Carol" will be read by Dr. Delbert Lean. Jim Douglas and Diana Bond create a Scottish dancing group after visiting Scotland. The second page has the words "Happy New Year" across it. Ronald Macbeth writes a poem titled A Very Merry Christmas. Don Reiman writes a featured story called Following Yonder Star.

The Student Christian Council Religion in Life Week will begin February 24 with Dr. Howard Thurman delivering the morning sermon at Westminster church. This year's Gum Shoe Hop is "Time Out of Place," by Bob Chang and Chuck Ardery. The newly elected presidents of the Women's Self-Government Association are Marilou Darone and Mary Jane Reimer. The Modern Dance group, Orchesis, will be holding their recital on February 2 with the storyline involving dolls in a toy shop.

This year's Religion in Life Week will be concluded on February 28 by the former Dean of the Chapel, Reverend C. John L. Bates. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will only come to campus on March 3 if there are 180 students signed up to donate blood. Now on display in the Wishart Museum are student pieces from art classes. Speech major Bill McGraw will present Vincent Carroll's "Shadow and Stance" for his Independent Study project on Monday and Tuesday. One member of the Student Senate, Dave Augsburger, is investigating the possibility of co-ed dining at the College of Wooster.

The Gum Shoe Hop, "Time Out of Place" will be performed Saturday evening. "Gold in the Hills" is this years faculty play, which hasn't occurred since spring of 1949. On February 17, Wooster Sunday, the Presbyterian Church will be donating a portion of its collection to the college. The 1952 Index should be set for distribution to the students on May first, its theme is that of progress over the past fifty years. Fifty students did not return for the second semester, but the college did gain 17 new students.

Religion in Life week will begin with Dr. Howard Thurman speaking on the topic of "The Crucial Dilemma" on Sunday morning. The Girls' Chorus will be performing under the direction of Miss Eve Richmond at the First Presbyterian Church on February 24. The Wishart Museum will be featuring a student exhibit from three of Mr. Donald MacKenzie's art classes until February 25. The next play to be produced by the Little Theater is a three act play by John Balderston called, "Berkeley Square." Two members of Wooster's Young Democrats club will be traveling to Ohio Wesleyan University at Delaware for a conference of party leaders.

The annual carnival is being held tonight in the Severance Gymnasium. The Men's Glee Club will be opening its annual spring concert tour in Lima, OH on March 11. The faculty play "Gold in the Hills," directed by Mr. Donald Shanower, has been casted. A total of 147 pints were donated at the blood drive. On March 19 one of the following women will be chosen for the Color Day Queen: Marjory Baker, Freddy Beamer, Betty Jane Mitchell, Pat Limbeck, Mina Ramage, and Nona Williston. 228 students have made the Dean's List for the first semester.

John Keitt and Bob Atwell are competing for the position of President of the Student Senate. A picture features the six candidates for Color Day Queen: Marge Baker, Freddy Beamer, Pat Lindbeck, Betty Jane Mitchell, Mina Ramage and Nona Williston. History majors create a history club with planned monthly meetings. This year's Color Day play will be Christopher Fry's, The Lady's Not For Burning, it will be performed May 7-10. The College of Wooster has been given the title of The College of College Presidents with 29 alumni becoming college presidents. The Wooster Symphony with several singing groups will be performing.

Of the six candidates, Miss Freddy Beamer has been elected to be the 48th Color Day queen. The Voice will not be published next week because there is a conflict at the Henery Printing Company. The Men's Glee Club will perform their home concert on March 26. The Wooster Sharks swim team will be holding their "Symphony in Swim" performance on March 31, and April 1-2. Bus driver Al Pyers has broken his ankle after falling off the roof of the bus in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

The student editors for the 1952-1953 Index and Voice have been decided. Howard King will be the editor in chief of the Voice, and Reed Geiger will be head of the Index. This year's Color Day pageant has been determined to be "The Magic Shoe" written by Ivan Preston and Ron Felty. The play to be presented by the Little Theater for Color Day weekend is Christopher Fry's, "The Lady's Not For Burning". It will be directed by W C Craig and shown on May 7-10. On May 19, Wooster will be hosting an Art Conference that will include up to 36 schools.

Wooster's mock convention will unite to name a Republican candidate for presidency, the choices are Dwight Eisenhower, Harold Stassen, Robert Taft, and Earl Warren. The Director of Admissions, Lee Culp, has been called to duty for the next two years, he will be working for the Bureau of Aeronautics of the U.S. Navy. A featured letter written by Lieutenant Stuart J Ling is titled, "When Things Get Dull." Representatives from various organizations met with President Howard Lowry to discuss student discipline. The Men's Association will be presenting the Inter-Section Serenade Contest.
