On March 24th, the 1956 Mock Political Convention will feature Mr. Karl Mundt as the guest speaker. He is a United States Senator from South Dakota. The Sharks Club will be presenting its annual water show with the theme of, "Walt Disney Carousel." The performances will take place on March 19th, 20th, and 21st. Eleven students have won top honors on the Dean's List from last semester. The Scot Auditorium will hold the annual modern language department plays for Spanish, French, and German students on March 22nd and 23rd.

The editor of the 1956-1957 Voice will be Sheila Mclsaac, and the 1957 Index will be edited by Millie Webb. Louise Byers, Anne Eubank, Alice Kresensky, Peg Meyer, Sherry Slater, and Marge Voder are this year's Color Day Queen nominees. The Board of Trustees and Dr. Lowry are concerned students are participating in too many activities. There is an article on page two that states that cigarette ads were only added last year to meet the expenses to become a weekly newspaper.

Maurice and Laura Falk Foundation grant has been renewed for the next three years, it will be cut in half each year, starting at $14,500. Wooster is holding the seventh annual Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society today, April 20th. The Girls' Chorus will be holding their concert at 8:15pm this evening in the Memorial Chapel. The freshman class formal will have the theme "Soma Holiday" based on Aldous Huxley's book Brave New World. Sociology Professor F. J. Davis has received a $1,000 grant from the Social Science Research Council in Washington to go towards her summer research at Harvard University.

There is an article regarding students and their habit of jaywalking. The cops do not appreciate this hazardous act. The Jazz Club is sponsoring a dance concert titled, "the Hi-Fi Fling" on Saturday evening. The Solid Gold Cadillac by Howard Teichman and George Kaufman is the 1956 Color Day play. It will be starring Ruth McDevitt, a 1917 graduate of the College of Wooster. Phi Beta Kappa is sponsoring the lecture of Dr. Walsh from Beloit College in Wisconsin.

The Solid Gold Cadillac, just off of Broadway, is at Wooster to rehearse. Miss Ruth McDevitt plays the lead role, and she is an alum of Wooster. The Men's Association is having its annual Serenade Contest tonight, May 4th, at 8pm in the chapel. The Voice competed against newspapers from all over the country through the Associated College Press. The Voice received a second class honor rating, finishing fifteen points short of first. The Ohio Poetry Society is sponsoring the Verse-writers Conference at the college on May 5th.

Pris Cortelyou, last years Color Day Queen, will be crowning this years Color Day Queen, Louise Byers, on Saturday May 12th. For the first time, the Scot Band will be playing the Queen's Processional. Junior and Senior comprehensive exams will be held on May 17th. The Symphonic Band will be playing its outdoor concert on the Quinby Quadrangle on May 13th. President Howard Lowry will be on leave from August 1st through November in Europe; he was invited by the Carnegie Corporation of New York City to study problems and aspects of British education.

There are twenty-four new faculty members on campus this fall. The registrar released the list of students who received honors in their academia from the spring semester. The Law School Admission Test will be given throughout the United States on the following mornings: November 10th, February 16th, May 4th, and August 10th. Two members of the board of trustees, Mr. and Mrs. Wagner, have donated the gift of the construction of a new woman's dormitory off of Wayne Avenue. It will be known as Wagner Hall. The Wishart Art Museum is selling 100 picture for 50 cents or $1 to students to place on their walls. The money raised will be put towards next years rental art exhibit.

The College of Wooster has been awarded $20,000 by the Danforth Foundation of St. Louis, Missouri to be used in the execution of several new policies. The Classical Drama Reading Group will be reading Aeschylus' Agamemnon Trilogy and Eugene O'Neill's Mourning Becomes Electra. The nominees for this year's homecoming queen are: Sally Anthony, Selma Hokanson, Sheila Mclsaac, Marlene Wyant, and Marge Yoder. Kenarden Lodge had renovations done this summer in some sections, the remaining sections will be renovated next summer. The renovations include: covering of asphalt on all floors, new wiring and lighting, built in bookcases, and new window shades and screens. There is going to be a stricter policy regarding cars and parking beginning October 1st. Page three is taken up by a full page advertisement for Viceroy Cigarettes.

Students have the opportunity to spend a semester in Washington D.C. at the American University of Washington D.C. Eleven bands will be marching at the pep day parade. There will be over 700 students marching. This week's Senate Movie is Alfred Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder," starring Ray Milland and Grace Kelly. Mr. Charles Polling is a new admissions counselor at the college. He is a graduate from the class of 1950. The Hilltoppers will be on campus on Tuesday October 16th.

This years homecoming queen, Sally Anthony, will begin her reign this Thursday evening at the Queen's Banquet. This years student senate is listed in this edition of the paper. The visiting professor in place of Professor Karl Trump during his absence, Mr. Dale Moore, a baritone, will be holding a voice recital on Sunday, October 14th at 8:15 p.m. in the Chapel. Within the next ten years, the college plans to achieve a goal of gaining 20 million dollars for financial assets. Gains from this would include: increased faculty salaries, carrying out plans for new buildings on campus, raising the endowment, and increased student aid.

The Senate lost $300 from the recent Hilltoppers concert, and they discussed this loss at the Senate Social Board meeting. It is believed that possible reasons for this loss are midterms, homecoming weekend, and the price for the amount offered. This years faculty play performed on November 16th, 17th, 19th, and 20th is, "Arsenic and Old Lace" by Kesselring. This years Parent Day weekend play is, "Death of a Salesman," by Arthur Miller. Sunday evening's Student Christian Association meeting will have a seminar titled, "Is Life an Accident?" given by Dr. Becker of the psychology department.

Robert Shaw will be returning to campus to direct Mozart's Requiem Mass with the Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra. On November 5th, at the Community Concert, they will present the contemporary cellist Leonard Rose. Tuesday is a red letter day, where 20% of the Wooster students will vote for the first time. It is approximated that at least 20% will vote for Ike and Nixon. A new exhibit opens on November 5th in the Wishart Museum, it will feature nine total sculpture, prints, paintings, and ceramics by Mr. Aldo Casanova.

This weekend is Parents' Weekend which includes the following activities: a play, a dance, open houses, and football games. This year's Religion in Life activities will begin Sunday with Dr. Clarence Jordan speaking on the "Need for a Savior." Joyce Robison Geier has a review of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman on the first page of this edition of the newspaper. The Student-Faculty Relations Committee has proposed a revision of the current chapel system. The sports updates begin on page three.

The Student Senate will be pushing for new laws regarding jaywalking. They are proposing that an additional crosswalk be added at Henrietta, that the city law be the only law enforced, the college should continue to press for reduced vehicle speed in the college area, and that any additional money over the two dollar city fine be returned to the violators. The Cleveland Orchestra and Choir will be performing Beethoven's Missa Solemnis directed by Robert Shaw on December 13th, 15th, and 16th. The following faculty will be taking their required sabbatical next year: Dr. Lowell W. Coolidge, Dr. Myron A. Peyton. Dr. John D. Reinheimer, Dr. William I. Schreiber and Dr. Eugene S. Tanner. On November 26th, Co-eds will be able to sign up to switch dining halls.

Jack Scaff and Dave Dungan are coordinating plans for emergency aid relief for the Hungarian Refugees. Gershwin's Of Thee I Sing will be performed on January 11th and 12th in the Scot Auditorium as the term project of the operetta production class. Sir Llewellyn Woodward discussed the topic of, "The Influence of History" in the chapel on Tuesday night. The 1956 Alumni Fund Drive surpassed their goal of $85,000 by $2,981.14. This is about $10,000 more raised than the previous year.

The Student Faculty Relations Committee has voted to not change the dates of Christmas Vacation, and to also not change the policy on jaywalking on Beall Avenue. Wooster Day will be commemorated throughout the country by hundreds of people. The National Drama Company will be presenting Christopher Fry's Boy With A Cart. It will be performed without any props. The Women's Student Government Association has voted to extend the juniors curfew hours. An organ recital will be presented on Sunday evening in the Chapel by Mr. John R. Carruth.

Dr. Howard F. Lowry will be returning to the college after a five month absence. He and his companions visited France, Great Britain, Italy, and Switzerland on vacation. They were at sea on their boat, "Ile de France," and were one of the vessels which acted in a rescue capacity at the scene of the 'Andrea Doria'-'Stockholm' collision. Recognition Day, where prizes are given to underclassmen based on previous performances, was held in the chapel last Friday. It was conducted by the Dean of the College. Over $3,000 has been collected during the emergency relief drive for Hungarian Refugees. Students are discouraged from going caroling, and groups on campus are not too happy about this.

The Muse Abused a musical by Bill Whiting is this year's Gum Shoe Hop. It will show from February 23rd through the 26th. The Concert Choir directed by Professor Richard T. Gore will be performing Haydn's famous oratorio, "The Seasons," on Sunday January 9th. Harry Woodfield will play for the sophomore and junior formal with his eight piece hand on January 15th. Robert Wettstone will be directing the play Outward Bound for his IS project during Religion-in-life week on February 5th.

Former United States Senator, Thomas A. Burke, will speak at an open meeting of the Young Democrats on Monday evening. One of the first headlines on the first page is titled, "Coming Election Will Show that its a Woman's World." The Student Senate has appointed Bill Whiting to be director of the 1955 Gum Shoe Hop. Dr. Henry Little will be the speaker at the David Brainard Society meeting on Monday. The Wishart Museum is featuring the exhibit, "Religion as the Printmaker's Theme."

Dr. George MacPherson Docherty will be the guest speaker for Religion-in-Life week, his talks are planned around the subject of "The New Evangelism." Six seniors graduated after the first semester ended this year. The Girls' Chorus will have their sacred concert on February 6th in the First Presbyterian Church. The Student Senate will be holding a book sale during the Religion in Life week.

Aaron Copland will speak about, "Music in the Twenties," on February 16th in the Memorial Chapel. The Modern Dance Club Orchesis will be presenting their annual recital on February 11th, the theme for the show is "Scentimental Journey," in which they will use different perfumes for each dance. The Young Republican's Lincoln Day dinner will take place on February 14th, in which Congressman William McColloch will deliver the birthday speech. Ten students have transferred to Wooster for the second semester. Janet Lea is directing Simon Big Ears for part of her independent study project. The College of Wooster will be honored by the Presbyterian Churches of the Ohio Synod on February 13th.

This edition of the newspaper is titled the Wooster Vice. It is filled with made up, joke articles. One of the articles states that sophomores, beginning next year, are to bring their younger brothers and sisters up to the age of eleven to school with them as a big brother/sister program. Some of the articles are upside down, and some of the images are black. One small tidbit on page one says, "The VICE wishes to apologize for the many errors in last weak's issu. We witch to assure our reader s that in the future thes errors will not be repated repeated repeated."

The Scot Band will be having their Winter Concert on the evening of February 27th in the Memorial Chapel. The cast of Janet Lea's IS play, Simon Big Ears has been announced, the play will be performed on March 11th and 12th. Senior Jim Lindsay has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for foreign study at Keble College, Oxford. This year's Gum Shoe Hop is The Muse Abused by Bill Whiting.

March 7th through the 28th the Wishart Museum will have a Chinese art exhibit on display. John Oliver Nelson will be speaking at an open meeting of the United Christian Fellowship on March 6th on the topic of, "Christian, Do Something Important." The winter concert of the Chamber Orchestra will be on March 6th. The next book to be discussed at the Faculty Student Book Discussion will be The Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller.

Simon Big Ears, directed by Janet Lea, is going to be performed in the Scot Auditorium this afternoon and tomorrow evening; it is the only children's play being put on this year. Sponsored by the class of 1917 lectureship, Dr. E. Harris Harbison the Professor of History at Princeton University will be discussing, "Western Thoughts About Freedom," on March 16th in the Scott Auditorium. There is a section on the first page that lists all students who did not get below an A grade in the first semester of this school year. There will be a Red Cross drive March from 11th to the 13th. Sunday evening's lecture will be from the Senator of Illinois, Paul Douglas.
