Abstract
This Senior Independent Study explores growth machines and how cities use this theory as a means to generate tourism and city re-branding which in turn increases the development of their metro areas. I will present two case studies on the Cleveland Quicken Loans Arena and the Barclays Center. Stadiums and determine whether their economic development has traces of Growth Machine theory, or if Growth Machine theory can contribute to the overall economic viability of these cities.
