Abstract
Grief Live!: How Performers Can Analyze, Interpret, and Perform Grief in Healthy Ways seeks the answer the question of how performers act out grief on stage without jeopardizing their own mental health. This is done through the exploration of grief as an illness with research from Konstantin Stanislavski, and eventually two recitals performed based on the Five Stages of Grief. The acting recital contains scenes from The Fellowship, Everybody, Anatomy of a Suicide with musical numbers from Dear Evan Hansen, Ride the Cyclone, Heathers: The Musical, and Next to Normal.
