Abstract
This study examines the relationship between ADHD symptoms and the Big Five personality traits. This study also investigates the relationship between ADHD symptoms and the facets of the Big Five personality traits. Participants completed the Big Five Personality Inventory 2 (BFI-2) and the Adult ADHD Self Report Scale (ASRS). Based on previous research, it was hypothesized that the Big Five traits of neuroticism and conscientiousness will significantly predict ADHD symptoms. Additionally, I then examined which facets within these traits predicted ADHD Symptoms. The results showed that neuroticism and conscientiousness, and one facet of each, were all significant predictors of ADHD Symptoms. These results were consistent with previous research. More research could be done on the facet level, as well as examining ADHD symptoms and personality traits in other contexts and environments.
