The first page heads with an article regarding the thirty students who protested about the Waste Technologies Institute incinerator in front of the Ohio statehouse on October 26. On Monday, four professors analyzed the new welfare reform plan. Stevenson Hall voted against the extension of non-residential access hours. Two Guerrilla Girls spoke at the chapel on Tuesday about "The Conscience of The Artworld." Nicole Dodds has resigned as the Index's editor-in-chief due to the lack of interest from the study body. Page twelve gives the radio station's daily schedule for the fall semester. The athletics section is from page thirteen to sixteen.

This edition of the Wooster Voice, published on November 8 of 1996, is twelve pages long. The Index publication may be disbanded for the 1997 school year because of the lack of student interest. President Hales was the first person to borrow a book off of the Ohiolink library on Monday afternoon. Di Jin, a research fellow from the Center for Advanced Studies at the University of Virginia, spoke about the translation of Ulysses into Chinese, which took her sixteen years, on Tuesday evening. Page eight has an article about the Wooster Symphony Orchestra's 81st season. The athletics updates are from page ten through twelve.

The heading article on the first page is about the "Clothesline Project" that was brought to the college this week by the Ohio Coalition on Sexual Assault. At the Publication's Committee meeting on Monday, students discussed the recent resignation of Nicole Dodds the Index editor. Dr. Abraham Verghese discussed AIDS in a small town at the concluding forum last night. James Koller will be the new editor-in-chief for the Voice in the spring semester. Pages four and five feature letters to the editor. Pages six and seven have the Spring 2006 J-Board Results. The athletics section begins on page thirteen.

On Wednesday evening, a new series of talks/discussions know as "Life in the Pit" began, this first one dealt with gender issues. Two non students of the college attempted to steal a bicycle from the Andrews basement bike room last Tuesday evening. The Hillel group staged a model Bat Mitzvah on Tuesday evening. Recycling Coordinator Meredith Benson and Molly Ewing, the student recycling manager are tackling the subject of composting. Jessica DuPlaga has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Index, she hopes to revive it and bring back student interest. Pages four and five have letters to the editor. The athletics section is from page ten to twelve.

Chemistry professor Charles Borders has received a $60,000 grant from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, Inc., of New York. The International Student Association, ISA, has elected three new officers for the second semester. Sharmila Lawrence writes an article about child labor on the fifth page. A Wooster student was the victim of an attempted armed robbery, and two suspects have been charged. Art History Professor Arn Lewis discusses the Civil Rights Movement. A Theologian in Residence discusses sexuality and the church. Linda Chavez, author and political appointee, discusses problems of immigration. Pages eleven and twelve give the athletic updates for the past week.

Campus Council revises the process of chartering campus organizations by creating two categories for new organizations. Former legal counselor for the U.S. mission to the United Nations discusses the history and misperceptions of the United Nations. Mandarin Chinese will be added to the College curriculum. Morris Dees, executive director of the Southern Poverty Law Center, discussed racial equality as a litigator of civil rights cases. SGA creates a survey about student laundry concerns.

This is a special edition of the Voice to discuss the presidential search. The three finalists for the College presidency (David Caputo, Jim Bacchus, and George Daivs) had campus interviews, and they each have a small column. The student body is frustrated by the lack of opportunity for student involvement in the search for the new college president. The current president, Henry Copeland, reflects on his presidency on page two.

SGA senators debate whether the Constitution can be amended mid-semester to allow five candidates to be chosen, when only three seats are available. Debra Moody discusses "Liberation and Domestic Violence: A Biblical Message for Women, Children, and the Vulnerable" as part of the Clergy Academy's series on violence. A group of Wooster students went to Pennsylvania for Groundhog Day.

Jim Barnes has been chosen as the new head football coach. Wooster student Mindy Jenkins discusses homosexuality and Christianity. The College considers bringing the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt to campus. The experimental Advising Day offers the opportunity to meet with advisors and faculty members. An article argues that the Student Government Association does not serve students, and especially since SGA refused to allow five sophomore senators rather than only four.

The Presidential Search Committee adds a fourth committee whose name has not been released to the finalists for college president, Lambda and the International Socialist Organization host a panel discussing homophobia at the College of Wooster. The tuition for the 1995-96 school year is set, and is an increase of $1,310. Campus Council approved stricter requirements on the role of faculty advisors in campus organizations. SADD week educates campus, and 63 students dressed in black and remained silent as a representation of those killed in drunk driving incidents.

The Joint Presidential Search and Screening committee reported their two candidate names to the Trustee Executive Committee. The Committee on Committees considers increasing the number of faculty members on Campus Council. The Fighting Scot Basketball team wins the first round of the NCAA tourney. Greek housing sections are shuffled between fraternities. Articles are for and against the continuing use of the term "Greek" for fraternities.

The Board of Trustees will meet to vote on the new College president. The security of SGA voting is questioned by Voice staff after staff members tested the system by attempting to vote twice. Women on campus gathered for a "Take Back the Night!" march. The Jewish Students' Association asked Campus Council for permission to change their name to "Hillel." Anonymous HIV testing will be held in Hygeia. The two separate religious traditions of Passover and Easter are considered.

Wooster Forum speaker Dr. Alvin Poussaint of Harvard Medical School criticizes The Bell Curve, a book whose conclusion is that, "...whites are superior to blacks in genetic makeup." Faculty representatives are elected for the Presidential Search Committee. Campus Council enforces the requirement that campus organizations seeking funding or the use of campus facilities must have a charter approved by Campus Council. An article argues that the Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives is investigating Newt Gingrich for the wrong reasons.
