The Shack has been rejected for a 3.2 liquor license. The College of Wooster was featured on the Huntley-Brinkley Report over four days in a study of five colleges from across the United States. The upcoming January Moratorium days will take a different approach this year, also Peace Action Day will be on January 15. A color television set was stolen from the Phi Omega Sigma's over Christmas break. The athletic updates for the past week are on page three. Art by Coach Phil Shipe is currently displayed in Severance Gymnasium.

This edition of the Voice is eight pages long. The first page has an article about the goal to increase the 'black population' by 150 for next year. A junior at the Wooster High School, Bob Carpenter, was sentenced to 48 hours in jail last weekend, in that time he was beaten by the inmates. The cost of living will continue to increase because of inflation. Students are participating in a ten day fast for this month's Moratorium. One article honors the death of Brother Lumumba Patrice of Congo, Africa who died January 17, 1961. Page two features the usual letters to the editor, and an article about the draft. Page three features a warning to drug dealers.

Forty students and three deans met last Tuesday to discuss the Code of Conduct and how it was being enforced. 180 prospective students of color from Ohio, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and New York visited campus last weekend. The trial Freshman Colloquium classes have been approved by both the professors and students, the class included reading, writing, and informal discussion. The Urban Studies program is asking for criticism and funds so that is can better the program. Page two has the letters to the editor section, as well as an article about the draft.

Gary Houston wrote an article about the "Wooster in the Midwest" conference that he attended for an afternoon. An address given by the architect of McGaw Chapel, Mr. Victor Christ-Janer, to begin the conference week was titled: "A Sense of Community in a Fractured Society." Sophomore Lou Young and junior Kerry Stroup are creating a new publication for the fulfillment of students needs, "INK-70." The University of Illinois Jazz Band will be performing in Wooster on January 31. Letters to the editor and an article about the draft are featured on page two. Athletic updates for the past week are on the third page. On page four, there is an article about the college's radio station (WCWS).

This edition of the Wooster Voice was published on February 6 of 1970 and it is four pages in length. President Drushal will be sending the revisions of the campus Code of Conduct to the campus council by February 16. Lowry Center will be holding a drug conference from February 22-24. The third article found on the first page is titled, "A Common Light Emerges From A Community Amidst Conflict." Page two of this week's Voice has the usual letters that were written specifically to the editors. Page three features the sports updates for this week. Academic Honor Code Revision Committee is beginning to draft a new and updated version of the Honor Code. The Tax Reform Act of 1969 is hurting the funds of the College of Wooster. Upwards of 330 students are boycotting the chapel policy and this past week they burned their chapel cards. When a woman comes into the college's health center concerning contraceptives, they talk to both the man and woman involved. The Little Theater will be performing Bertolt Brecht's "Mother Courage and Her Children" beginning February 19.

This newspaper begins with an article about how the Student Government Association is dead. President Drushal and the Board of Trustees are working on revising the old Code of Conduct. From February 22 through February 24 there will be conferences regarding drug abuse. On Wednesday evening Willie Morris gave a lecture about Harper's magazine and his experiences as an editor there. Letters to the editor are featured on the second page. Page three highlights the athletic happenings from the past week. An article about the draft is on the fourth page.

Five of the Chicago Seven have been put in jail for five years, Kent Weeks of the Political Science Department was in Chicago last week and he spent most of his time in the press room talking to lawyers and spouses. There is an article where Dr. Donald Louria warns the people about the effects of using LSD's. On February 21 Wooster students went on a Food Caravan collecting food for striking migrant workers in California. Page two features the usual letters to the editor. Page three has the updated sports scores and results.

The topics of guns and racial hostility is the leading article on the first page of this Voice. On February 28 the Wayne County chapter of the Ohio Grape Boycott Coalition went to Cleveland to deliver the cans of food which totaled to the worth of $10,000. The Campus Council has voted to celebrate Earth Day on April 22. President Drushal has proposed a Senior Center to be built in Galpin Park. The Shack has been permitted to serve 3.2% beer. The Education Affairs committee has developed a Faculty Evaluation Form.

Two Wooster students, Mindy Pierce and Ron Ruskan, have recently won the National Two-Man Tournament in the national debate series. Yesterday, Ralph Nader presented to a Wooster audience of 2,000 with an indictment of American industry and consumer apathy. McGaw Chapel, now in the process of being built, will be build higher upwards than expected because they hit bedrock sooner than planned. The proposed reconstruction of the Student Government Association has failed, so the elections this year will follow the 1962 constitution. Page two features the letters to the editor. Athletic updates are highlighted on page two of this edition.

This edition of the College of Wooster's Voice newspaper covers the fact that Wooster and surrounding Wayne counties have been receiving continuous bomb threats that have so far all been false alarms. The Student Government Association elections are coming up soon, and until last Wednesday there was only one person running for president. The Men's Affairs board and hell week are receiving controversy. Page two of this newspaper has the Letter to the Editor. Page five contains the weekly sports updates section.

The Eco-action committees have been formed to attempt to make a small difference on the environment in Wooster. The environment is in crisis because of industrialization, and man could easily destroy earth with a nuclear bomb. There is a new Campus Code of Conduct in the works, and Campus Council is attempting to figure out when it will be implemented. An article about India's population growth is featured on the first page. Page three and eight are all images of factories and the degrading environment. Athletic updates are featured on page six. An article on page ten looks at how the Vietnam War has taken the backseat to the environmental degradation.

The Men's Affairs Board has had controversy between students and faculty with Hell Week for the past year regarding the 2.0 GPA rule. A new physical education course will be required for incoming freshman, it will replace one of the six existing requirements for graduation. This course will be taught be Dr. Viola Startzman and will cover the stressors of college life. The Chapel's policies are under fire again. Robert P Beck will be living in the west as an admissions and alumni coordinator, his hope is to have more students attend Wooster from the west. Athletic updates are highlighted on page four of this edition of the Wooster Voice.

This newspaper begins with an article by two students who went to Kent State in order to have an eyewitness view to the aftermath of the shooting. According to the article, there were still National Guardsmen everywhere. On Monday night around 700 students and faculty marched peacefully in downtown Wooster in order to support what had just happened at Kent State. This paper is dedicated to the shooting aftermath, and how hate will never fix us.

The New School concept is off to a good start, this concept centers on focus groups that range from an enormous amount of topics. This summer, the College of Wooster will be hosting a political training session. The Peace Rally in Washington DC that occurred last Saturday had upwards of 100,000 attendees. The Little Theater's spring play is The Miser. Page three has the updates on the sports teams. Page four features an article about the Draft that was put in place by President Nixon.

The Index may be near its death since only one application has been received to put it together. The Participation '70 movement is gaining followers and momentum. An article on the second page addresses a quote said by Adolf Hitler, and relates it to the more recent election of President Nixon. One of the letters to the editor addresses the human kind's effect on nature and the environment. On page four there is an article about protests becoming more and more popular. Athletic updates for the past week are on page six of this edition.

This edition of the Voice is only two pages long. The first page has an article on Dr. Drushal's idea of "Participation '70." This refers to the fact that students need methodology and technique to remain committed. Wooster is in need of commitment from the students for Democratic understanding. Both pages are about different positions/pieces of "Participation '70."

This edition of the Wooster Voice has an article on the first page regarding the role of campus security, and a meeting they had last week with other colleges. A new insurance plan, the Kimball Denenberg Plan, will charge students who damage the college's property. On October 31 there will be a National Peace Day rally. The Non-White Scholarship Fund was established a year ago in order to increase non-white enrollment at the college, this year they are looking for fundraising ideas to earn money for more scholarships.

The College of Wooster athletic department has been placed on probation by the Ohio Athletic Conference, and they suspended the basketball team from the post-season Ohio conference tournament. The Current Issues Committee will be presenting on the topic, "America: a society in crisis," on October 18 through the 21. German professor, Dr. William Schreiber led a bus tour last Saturday about the Ohio Amish community. Letters to the editors are featured on page two. An article on the first page discusses the Grand Jury that occurred in Ravenna about the Kent State University riots. Last week, Canada took a turn for the worse. The Front for the Liberation of Quebec kidnapped and killed Labor Minister Pierre Laporte because they wanted the 23 prisoners back. Activist Angela Davis was arrested for murder and kidnap and an anonymous warning was sent that a NYC police officer will be killed everyday until she is released. The College of Wooster was placed on athletic probation on October 14, excluding the Fighting Scot basketball team from the Ohio Conference postseason tournament.

The next two years calendars have been passes, giving the students a shorter summer break. The first semester will start in early September. Steve Jacobe, who is the assistant member of the bookstore, is teaching a photography class Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Lowry. The article, "Who Got Toasted On Old All Hallows Eve?" by Lynn Wagner discusses the strange traditions that happen on October 31 around the world. Page two has the description of each zodiac sign as a lover. The athletic updates for the past week are featured on page three.

This edition of the Voice has a black page and white text, making the images difficult to distinguish. The header of the page reads ROHO. The image on the first page of the arch filled with snow has text over it that has a word assigned to each letter of the word Wooster. This edition seems to be dedicated and written by Wooster's students of color. One article on the first pages writes about women's safety at night and how they can call campus security for an escort. Edward Gilbert wrote an article about Wooster's athletic department that is not very good. The black community of students feel that the Index gives a shameful representation of their community. Pages three, and six to eight switch the text to black and the paper to white. Those pages have the usual sport updates. Pages four and five have images of African Americans covering the pages in a collage format. The final page has a logo drawing that has the words, "Black Man on a White Campus."

An article on the first page by Chris Dudbridge discusses a new brotherhood that has been created by John Fry. Dick Wagner wrote an article about how the money that the school spends on spirit week could be put to better use. An article about racism and inequality in the workplace is also found on the first page. The Letters to the Editor on page two respond to the 'black issue' of the Voice that was published recently. Pages three and four feature athletic updates and advertisements.

This edition begins with a letter from the Editor to the campus community addressing the recent complaints the Voice had received in regards to its editorial policy and the proper role of the newspaper. Another article discusses the Scholarship referendum which was under debate at the time. This edition also includes an article on the White Problem, an opinion piece that discusses the importance of equal rights. Advertisements from local businesses have been distributed throughout this newspaper.

This edition includes an article on a referendum that was passed by the Student Government Association concerning the establishment of an Activities Fee Scholarship Fund. Another article discusses the current debate over the Voting Rights Act. A section of the newspaper is dedicated to Letters to the Editor, which addresses a variety of topics and concerns. Later in the newspaper, the sports highlights of the week are delved into in detail. Soccer and basketball games are recounted, and scores listed. The women's teams are also included in this edition. Advertisements from local businesses are distributed throughout the paper. The last for pages are the Thistle publication which features sketches, letters, and poetry/stories.
