Abstract

In this collection of poetry, I explore Walt Whitman, William Wordsworth, and A.R. Ammons, and how they use nature in their poems. Through analysis of works by these three poets, I was able to pinpoint aspects of poetry that I wanted to include in my own, and things that I wanted to avoid entirely. I based my poetry off the melancholia that is experienced when looking at old photographs and produced around forty nature poems that were based in melancholia, and memories.
