Abstract

This study examines prominent residential and commercial real estate professionals and their organizational work environments. The project is framed on organizational culture and organizational communication where twenty-three relevant critical and non-critical sources were reviewed and utilized in chapters one through three: the introduction, literature review, and methodology. Upon conducting research, the principal investigator decided to conduct qualitative interviews and developed approximately twelve interview questions which were approved by HSRC. Through mutual connections and work experience, seven real estate professionals (whose ages range from thirty-five to seventy) were contacted to request their participation. Seven qualitative interviews were carried to examine the effective and necessary communication techniques and communication styles utilized by real estate professionals in their daily practice. Additionally, several characteristics of successful real estate professionals were studied, as well as their primary interests and rationales for getting involved in real estate as a career. Lastly, the organizational operation of the participant’s real estate firms was analyzed. It was identified from all my participants that effective and open communication techniques, such as direct communication and active listening are essential if you are looking to make a good living in real estate and be effective with your clients. Furthermore, it was identified that be an effective real estate agent, broker, or developer one must: be honest, be a direct communicator, be proactive, refute litigation, and avoid client-oriented conflicts. It was identified that all real estate professionals became involved in real estate due to its independence and potential financially. Lastly, it was identified that all real estate organizations operate differently on an organizational level.
