Abstract

The purpose of my study is to analyze the media coverage of the 2017 Houston Astros cheating scandal. This scandal has been the biggest cheating scandal in sports since baseball’s steroid era and has shaken up the baseball world. The media reacted quickly and immediately made claims as to who is to blame. By using a content analysis, this study analyzes the media messages from both regional and national media outlets. This study will look to identify the possible motives for cheating as well as who is to blame for the cheating scandal and also identify the possible media frames being used as well.
