Abstract
This thesis analyzes Reform Judaism’s complex relationship with Zionism and how thatrelationship impacts youth attitudes towards the State of Israel as reflected in two sources. The first, Keeping Posted, was a Reform magazine for teens published from 1955-1989. The second is the collection of programming materials produced by and for youth by the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) from around 2000 to 2010.
These analyses will show that while Reform youth have the opportunity to question the State ofIsrael’s right to exist and eventual policies, they are also guided toward a liberal American stanceof support for the state.
