Abstract
The purpose of the following study is to determine the impact that women’s high school athletics has on their future wages through the attainment of human capital. The original hypothesis states that there is a positive relationship between women’s athletics and income. Various theories are implemented in order to examine this hypothesis, including the human capital model discussed in many forms and utility models. Utilizing data from the 1979 National Longitudinal Survey of Youth and two regression models, a probit and wage model, the results of this study indicate that women’s athletics has a positive influence on an individual’s future income levels.
