Abstract
This Independent Study explores the importance of representation in cartoons and comics amongst Black young males. The study examines the history of racist and problematic imagery in cartoons and comics that has plagued, stereotyped and limited the Black community both historically and modernly. The study further examines the extent to which representation is important amongst young black males and how it frames now only their self- perception, but also how non- Black others view them.
