Abstract
This thesis examines members of the House of Representatives, post-Watergate to pre-Trump, that have been involved in any type of scandal. I argue that basic level traits impact how a politician involved in a scandal will be affected. I believe that such traits like race and sex are critical in the decision for a politician to vacate their seat or are reasons for why they lose their seat when it comes time for re-election.
