Abstract
This study explores the accessibility of The Iliad to a public audience through the medium of public history. My research identifies the important historical and cultural information a newcomer should understand in order to fully understand the teachings of The Iliad. This study proposes to illustrate how the historical perspective can make an ancient text, such as The Iliad, more useful to a public audience. This study teaches a public audience how to use a historical perspective when viewing a source that It pursues this endeavor by creating a museum exhibit focused on the historical narrative and its relation to the information in The Iliad.
To complement the analysis of The Iliad in this written essay, I have created a virtual exhibit drawing on The Iliad. This study uses The Iliad and news articles as primary sources, and various secondary sources.
