Abstract
This work seeks to incorporate the new virtual reality technology (Oculus Rift) with geovisualization. It offers a new perspective for the researchers to view the geospatial data in a more intuitive way. The final product is called the GEO-3D, which is developed in Unity. GEO-3D models an Alaska site and will be used by the Geology department in teaching and research. The GEO-3D system allows the user to view a 3D model of the site generated from digital elevation data and allows the user to interact with the surface model. A prototype of the GEO-3D is created; however, it needs to be added with more functionalities.
