Abstract
Extended vocal techniques have not been utilized to their fullest ability in the professional musical world. Throughout this document and accompanying instructional videos, I will provide beginning students with information necessary to create a basic arsenal of sounds based on multiphonic singing, beatboxing, and combinations of these sounds. My instructions for multiphonic singing are based on traditional Tuvan throat singing, and my vocal percussion instructions come from my experience watching other performers as well as my own experimentation with these sounds. Combining these styles reveals their connections and related physicality. By following the steps in this document, any beginner can build a foundation with which they can learn to create their own, new sounds. By practicing these techniques, any student can learn that the possibilities of the human voice are endless.
