Abstract
This Independent Study shows the connection between music and literacy. It focuses on language acquisition and fluency and the impact music has on these areas of focus. This is prevalent in the case study, which was co-created and implemented with the help of Rachel Fleischaker, a current music educator in the Canton City School District. The case study shows the potential for music’s impact on language acquisition. The main source for this Independent Study was The Music and Literacy Connection by Dee Hansen, Elaine Bernstorf and Gayle M. Stuber. This Independent Study as well as other studies like this help to shine a light on the educational benefit of music.
