Abstract
The conceptual art movement experimented with different modes of conveying an experience or idea in an attempt to determine qualities necessary to artistic condition. The relationships discussed here between Vito Acconci, Guy Debord, and Joseph Kosuth accentuate both similarities and differences in their artistic values. Tracking the development of conceptual art through these artists hopes to bring to light art's ability to change in relation to its surrounding societal context.
