Abstract
This Senior Independent Study focuses on playwright Sarah Kane and her role in the In-yer-Face theatre movement. I have analyzed all of Sarah Kane’s five plays, and focused specifically on Crave, her second to last play. I have analyzed all of her work through the lens of In-yer-Face theatre in an attempt to understand her role within this movement and more broadly her role in theatre history. In addition, I have directed Sarah Kane’s Crave in an attempt to understand how In-yer-Face theatre is successfully performed and transformed onstage. Audience interaction and the connection to the actors through performance is necessary to understand when considering In-yer-Face theatre.
