Abstract

This Independent Study Thesis is a hybrid collection of poetry and personal essays examining life in poverty. The 16 pieces in this collection reflect different aspects of poverty from a personal perspective, ranging from homelessness to drug abuse. The goal of this collection is to give voice to stories that are often forgotten in discourse on poverty and give a human aspect to the study of the underclass.
