Abstract
Next to Nothing is a short novel that documents a few months in the life of Olivia Spencer, a second semester high school senior living outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Spurred by an innocuous question that she overthinks, Olivia enters into a relationship with Mike, a boy she doesn't know very well. Between the strain Mike puts on her connection with her best friend Hannah, the painful process of deciding colleges, and the presence of an obnoxious and unavoidable frenemy, Olivia soon finds herself in over her head and virtually alone, especially when she experiences a pregnancy scare shortly after agreeing to have sex with Mike.
