Abstract
This study establishes a narrative that runs parallel with three Kerouac novels: On the Road, Visions of Cody, and The Dharma Bums. In this narrative is an examination of the role and significance that Neal Cassady and Gary Snyder provide as guide figures for Kerouac on his pilgrimage across the country, searching for spiritual salvation.
