Abstract

This thesis explores what it means to have fought in World War II and how that story is different from a general historical overview. It is the war experience of Winthrop Worcester in the Fifteenth Air Force. I questioned what is a true war story and what Worcester's experience in the war actually was. I found that a war story can be about one man's strength and conviction in the face of the unknown, instead of a timeline of battles or statistics of the dead.
