Abstract
An examination of the role of the buffalo in the west and the cultures on the plains. The author incorporates the story of his research trip with the story of the buffalo. His research trip took him to North and South Dakota, Montana and Washington and lasted about a month. The author incorporates the story of the buffalo and the various periods of history on the plains with his trip .
