Abstract
In my Independent Study I researched the life of John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed) and created a series of landscapes based off his legacy. I formed a personal identity for Johnny Appleseed after a series of trips to locations that celebrate Johnny's heritage and my reading of Michael Pollan's The Botany of Desire. My final body of work includes observational drawings and paintings based off my memories of the places I traveled to.
