Abstract

This is a collection of poems that explores themes of borders, bodies, queerness, and motherhood through experimental poetry forms supported with literary theoretical concepts. My research draws primarily from the work of Susan Howe, Gloria Anzaldúa, Hil Malatino, Judith Butler, and Maggie Nelson. Inspired by the poetry of E. E. Cummings, Emily Dickinson, and Susan Howe, my poems ask where do the borders of the self lie?; what are the borders of language?; how are texts embodied? In asking these questions, my poetry works to efface heteronormativity in language and corporeality.
