The purpose of the chapter is to examine the problems that atheist have with religion. According to the majority of atheists, religion is extremely problematic and harmful to our society. In their opinion, it creates more problems than it solves and is responsible for countless issues in our society. Through the works of Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Sam Harris, this chapter, presents their main arguments against religion.
The second chapter, “The Paths Towards Belief and Practice”, examines the different ways a person comes to belief and practice in a certain religion. There is not one way a person comes to belief in God. This chapter looks different types of rational used by an individual to justify their belief in God.
The third chapter, “Response to Atheism”, offers some responses to specific objections made by Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Sam Harris from the religious person point of view. The atheists are convinced that the religion is not only irrational, but that it is extremely harmful to every society. This chapter offers the arguments made in response to these ideas.
The goal of this project is to determine whether or not religious belief is a justifiable position.
