Abstract
Thanks to the invention of Generative Art, the word ”art” has developed into a complex topic. Generative Art encompasses many growth points and challenges, that have the potential to change the world as we know it. For that reason, this Independent Study is a deep dive into the world of Generative Adversarial Networks. This paper reviews the fundamentals of Generating Art using a Generative Model. It also looks to the public for a deeper understanding of the relationship between man and machine. Lastly, this paper looks at the effects these models have had on the industry by looking at various case studies. The aim is to help understand what challenges the future will face with the advent of Generative Art. Using these three ideas, the reader can begin to explore their personal perspective surrounding generative art and its impact. Together, I hope to unearth the age-old question, ”Can Machines Create Art?”.
