Abstract
For my Senior Independent study I looked the opinions and perceptions of cheese and wine producers in France on globalization. I traveled to France with Copeland funding to interview producers of wine in Cassis and cheese in Roquefort. I looked at how the producers see globalization present itself in their practices and how they cope with its effects. I compared the practices I saw in France to globalization theories by theorists such as Robertson, Ritzer and Appadurai. I also looked at literature about terroir, food production, and the wine and cheese industry. I found that Robertson's theory was most accurate, but that it does not completely encompass what is taking place in Cassis or Roquefort.
