Abstract
This research project is an exploration of the trauma of women in the Greek mythic tradition. In the primary sources, the trauma of women was not a focal point, as it was often told in relation to men and little discussion of the aftermath and recovery of the trauma was given. Secondary sources have also focused more on the trauma of men in myth than that of women. Through a creative retelling and the lens of trauma theory, I have offered different ways that trauma for women may have been created, experienced, and recovered from in myth as well as how the factors of trauma could have been overcome. Such an approach has allowed me to connect the Greek mythic tradition to the present in a more personable way on the basis of common experiences and emotional release. The story is told as it is being relayed from the titular character, a female version of Poseidon.
