Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze famous sports broadcasting calls of American sports. More specifically, I categorize famous American sports moments into three genres: football, baseball, and basketball, and use genre analysis to examine the difference in broadcasting styles between each sport. Ranging from the 1960s to the 2010s, I investigate different calls that have been remembered as iconic moments in American sports history, and through generic criticism, I identify rhetorical devices, strategies, and other methods broadcasters use to connect with the audiences, keep their attention, and create memories for sports fans everywhere.
