She is feeling very devotional after an inspiring meeting with a seminary student at the Ohio North Union executive committee meeting. She also talks about wanting to see an Opera next year in Cleveland after Mary and Leland attended one.

Mother’s day

1927

Dear Mother,

This has been a beautiful day – in spirit – I don’t when I’ve felt so much in the spirit of devotion I wore a pansy for you this morning – It was raining but the air was so clear and fresh afterwards.

Leland and Mary are out together. Their love is so beautiful. It makes me want some one all the more – to understand and love. I call them my “little doves” – course Leland doesn’t know that.

I had a very lovely experience with Fred Cook from Oberlin yesterday at Tiffin Ohio. Heidelberg College is at Tiffin. Art Romig and I drove there for the Ohio Northern Union executive committee meeting. Fred Cook drove halfway back with us. We sat in the back seat and had the finest talk. I don’t know when I’ve enjoyed being with a boy. He is much older than the college student. He’s taking his second year of Seminary work at Oberlin – and is thinking seriously of preaching next year in Montana instead of taking seminary work. We talked about each other’s devotional loves and about mission work and Student Volunteers, ect. The only kind of worth while friends –those that really count are the ones you can talk with about things of real worth – I enjoyed it.

Leland and Mary went to Cleveland yesterday to hear [unclear] H provedan [/unclear] by the Metropolitan Opera Co. – I am going next year to an opera in Cleveland. They say it was so wonderful. Quite a few students went. It costs so much though – I want to hear Aida next year – if it takes my last cent. Have you ever seen Grand Opera? They spent
