Dear mother,
Just had peach short-cake for dinner. Had two tests this morning. One in Chem, which was hard and one in Eng. which was very easy. I know I am getting a lot fatter. The meals here are so good and I eat so much. The meals here cost a little less than twice as much as they do at Miami in Oxford, where Harriet Martin is going to school this year. We play Miami next Sat., but I am going to stay home and study. There is one game, tho, which I would love to go to and that is the one at Columbus on Nov 1.
Am so glad to hear such good reports about the church affairs. Am quite anxious to be in it all. The programs are really fine, I think.
Boots and I are attending the student voluteer [sic] meeting s. Last night they had thier [sic] meeting in the form of a picinic [sic] about a mile out of town. We hiked out there and then played base ball until the fire was ready for supper. Ther [sic] were about 27 people. We had our meeting around the fire after dark. I took my uke, so it came in handy in starting off the singing. Had a wonderful meeting. About when it was over the moon could be seen creeping up thru the trees. A man named James Moffett who I think, is the son or grand-son of the Moffatt who wrote the N.T. walked home with me. We went over to the shack and had a sundae-- I mean with our big sisters. When we got back to Hoover we serenaded the girls and got them all excited.
The girls beatitudes are a group of "Blesseds" [sic] for girls. They are in the girls year book. We couldn't hope for nicer weather. No rain, but cool and beautiful.
Have heard from Cap and wrote him the other day. He says thanks for the picture and that when ever he wants to re-member good times he takes it out and looks at it.........
Tonight we are going to pre-communion service and after that swimming. Get in some athletics every day. Played tennis yesterday. Only have one class tomorrow besides gym. Swell. Greek vocabulary is awful hard for me. Want to get caught up in it this week end.
Am enclosing a Wooster Voice. There will be some interesting things to read in it. Have lab. this afternoon and I want to take a nap for an hour.
Lots of love to all----
