  Index 1917

  Index Editors

  This is the College of Wooster yearbook from 1917, volume 36. There is a dedication at the beginning of the Index to Dr. J. Campbell White, who had just started as president of the college in 1917. After the dedication, there are 27 high quality images of the campus throughout that year. Highlights include profiles for the students attending the college during 1917, history for each class, profiles and nicknames for the members of the football team, and information and pictures of all of the social affairs and events on campus. Towards the end of the Index is the "Alumni Column," with information regarding prominent alumni. This yearbook was donated as a gift to the library by Ruth N. McClelland, who attended the college and graduated with the Class of 1928.

It is stated that this volume is dedicated to Louis Edward Holden, the then President of the College of Wooster. Descriptions of campus buildings, such as Severance and Kauke Halls, are detailed in the text. On page 23, there is a photograph dated December 11th 1901 depicting the remains for Old Main after the historic fire. The Index also includes information on the class years and student activities.
