Associate Professor - Chemistry [Department Chair]: Karl J. Feierabend
A major in Chemistry provides a solid foundation for professional careers in chemistry, medicine, and related professions. The alternative major in Chemical Physics takes an interdisciplinary approach to both chemistry and physics, utilizing mathematical techniques and amalgamated methodologies to explore the overlap between both disciplines.
Recent IS topics in Chemistry and Chemical Physics have included a study of acidity function with secondary amine indicators, liquid-liquid microextraction of landfull effluent and the production of toxins by cyanobacteria (pond scum).
The Chemistry department is based in Severance Hall.
