Abstract
My Independent Study is a collection of personal essays titled Stumbling Through Arcadia centered in Acadia National Park in Maine, Arches National Park in Utah and Holland State Park in Michigan. These essays explore the complexity in finding a balance between the access to and the preservation of America’s natural areas. Along with using my own personal experiences in these places, I also used authors like Edward Abbey, Terry Tempest Williams, and Simon Schama to develop the concepts I used in my study and to frame my narratives stylistically.
