Abstract
My Senior Independent Study looks at four coaches since the beginning of the National Football League and explains the innovations they made in order to help evolve the game into America's Game. I chose to look at George Halas, Paul Brown, Vince Lombardi, and Al Davis. Each coach represented a different time period in our country's history. I researched how the League stayed intact during the Depression, World War II, and the civil rights movement, but focused primarily on what each coach did in order to shape the game into what it is today.
