Abstract
My Senior IS is on the history and development of the bourbon industry in Kentucky with a focus on the Jim Beam Distillery. The Bourbon industry played a vital role in the development of the state of Kentucky, and had a direct relationship on the state's rise in population from the late 18th to the early 19th centuries. Bourbon was instrumental in helping rebuild Kentucky following the Civil War, and help the state survive during the later years of the Great Depression, but bourbon would also have a national impact. Bourbon would help get the country out of debt following the Revolutionary War, and was an integral part of the successes in World War I and II. My IS will also discuss the impact of Temperance and Prohibition on the bourbon industry. Overall, the bourbon industry still plays a vital role in Kentucky's economy, and society.
