Abstract

Using six Impressionist works of art, I examined three major ways Paris modernized at the end of the nineteenth century: physically, socially, and the evolution of the modern woman. To add interest and to echo the academic side of the project, I chose a character in each of the paintings and created a fictional story based on research describing how the changes affected this fictional character.
