This letter was written by Mary to her mother on an unspecified Wednesday night, possibly in April, during the spring of her second year at college. Composed on 4 small sheets of blue paper, with handwritten text in blue ink. Mary writes about cleaning her dorm room, her plans for an upcoming vacation in Akron for Easter, and looking to buy a new coat.
[April] 10:00 . Wed. Nite
Am lying in bed and hope to be asleep very soon. Just had a bath and am lying between two clean sheets. Have worked all day. Got cuts in both of my classes today. so as we were rushed in the Tea Room I helped and thus put in some extra hours. Haven't been working much lately because of the time I've had to put in debate.
This afternoon I cleaned every nook and corner of my room - and sent my comfort and rugs to the cleaners & a dress. Packed my laundry and hope to get it off tomorrow morning
Washed eleven pairs of stockings and some silk underwear. Now tomorrow I'm ready for business because I must accomplish things this vacation. Have my greek to master and my rebuttles for debate to work on.
Hope to rise at 7:00 tomorrow and begin plodding at 8:00. I just have to pass that exam that's all there is to it.
Hope to g - to Akron Fri sometime - and come back Monday. Have had quite a number of other invitations for this vacation - My address at Akron will be o/o Ethel Klakre 881 Akron SV.
My aim is to be there Easter Sunday. I'd feel like a lost sheep here. - - - - I'm going to be too busy to get blue this vacation. In fact thats been the case most all year.
Freds letter was too late for action before vacation but we will see about it as soon after vacation as we can.
I may look at coats in Akron and a dress for debate work. - Tried on some beautiful coats here at Wooster but they were $35.00 & $45.00 and I won't go anywhere near that high.
Have been at Kam Sing's for the last 3 nights Have enjoyed some lovely talks & grand radio with her.
Must go to sleep.
