Professor - German [Department Chair], Russian Studies [Department Chair], Global and International Studies: Beth Ann Muellner

The interdisciplinary Russian Studies major provides students with an in-depth knowledge of Russian language, culture, literature, history and politics. Typically Russian Studies majors study abroad in the fall semester of their junior year, in locations ranging from Moscow to Irkutsk to St. Petersburg.

Given the broad knowledge base the major offers, recent IS topics have covered a broad range of topics from journalism in the war-torn region of Chechnya, an investigation of the Russian “obsession” with Vodka and other alcoholic drinks, and an account of anti-Semitic socio-political trends in Russia in the 80s and 90s.

The Russian Studies department is based in Kauke Hall.
