Description

Mary wrote this letter to her mother during the second half of her first year at college. The letter is written on cream colored paper in a card format with blue ink. In this letter, Mary talks about feeling down, but goes on to mention current events at school, her recent Valentine's picture sale, and Paul Richenbach wanting to take her on another date.

Transcription:

Feb 18, 1925

Dear mother,

Don’t feel a bit cheerful lately- People don’t seem to respond- of course it’s all my fault and it makes me so disgusted- Feel I’m not doing as much as I can - Hope I get over it — Nuff said!

Jean was tickled to hear from you and I know she’ll write soon-. We had such a fine time at our party. There was a nice write up in the Voice about it.

Student body is to have a Gumshoe Hop Sat. Am in a Soph-Frosh stunt

Am enjoying reading on the Youth Movement. Am studying about the Y.M. in Germany only. If you have any more books or articals [sic] on it I wish you would send them.

Need more soap! Ha! Ha. Am on my last bar! Have taken quite a few pictures lately which is amounting to a little sum. Made exactly $12.00 on my valentine sale. What do you think of it? Must paint my Easter cards in spare time. There is so seldom spare minutes.

Paul wanted to take me for a walk Sun nite & he had taken me out Sat. I let him bring me home from C.E but wouldn’t give him a date. I said I thot 2 nites in succession was too much. He said very nicely “alright, it’s up to you. He is a gentleman.

We play Oberlin tomorrow night, Will be some excitement alright. Frosh played Juniors

last night. We won 28-21 Not an easy game.
