Description
This is the College of Wooster Index from 1947. At the beginning of the Index is a collection of photographs depicting student life and extracurriculars on campus. After this, there is a section dedicated to the faculty of Wooster. The Index ends with a student directory and advertisements from businesses around Wooster. There is also a dedication to Margaret Ann Record, of the Class of 1949. Below her portrait reads, "For those of us who knew her, there lives and shall continue to live, the memory of a sincere friend. In 'Mugs' calmness there was a vitality--a freshness rising from a dry subtle humor, which created in her an enthusiasm for living. Her understanding manner and cheerful willingness to help made knowing Margaret a joy. Truly she held the spirit of Wooster in her quick warm smile." Under this is a quote from William Allen White that reads, "'But the soul of her, the glowing, gorgeous, fervent soul of her, surely was flaming in eager joy upon some other dawn.'"
