Abstract

The Grimm fairy tales are very gruesome. What do these fairy tales say about the culture of the 19th century? Did the people accept the gruesomeness in the fairy tales? What many people do not know, is that the Grimm Brothers changed the tales and made them more acceptable for their culture. This is what has also happened in today's fairy tales. There are many similarities in the fairy tales of the 19th century and the 21st century and how people have changed them in order to make them more acceptable for their time. The following Project highlights the reactions of different cultures to the gruesomeness in the Grimm fairy tales.
