Abstract

Every year, forty million children worldwide are victims of trafficking. In my independent study thesis, I investigate the different forms of abuse related to child trafficking: sexual exploitation, organ trade, and domestic servitude. After the Second World War, Morocco and France established a partnership geared toward immigration and new opportunities for both country’s citizens, unintentionally providing traffickers a method to execute their crimes. Since then, child trafficking numbers have risen tremendously. In light of this recent history, I present the evolution of these laws since 1945; I define and raise awareness about the three main trafficking rings between Morocco and France, and I explain how non-profit organizations, governmental aid, and volunteers work tirelessly every day to eliminate this atrocity against innocent children. My project is personal as I have met and worked with victims of child trafficking since I was eleven years old. I hope to share my passion and dedication in ending this vicious and inhumane treatment of children.

Chaque année, quarante millions d’enfants sont victimes de traite dans le monde. Dans mon étude, j’examine trois différents types d’abus: l’exploitation sexuelle, la traite d’organes, et l’esclavage domestique. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le Maroc et la France ont établi une alliance pour faciliter l’immigration, entre les deux pays, afin de trouver de nouvelles opportunités pour leurs citoyens. Malheureusement, ces lois et programmes ont donné l’occasion aux trafiquants d’en profiter pour organiser leurs propres crimes. Depuis, la quantité des victimes de la traite des enfants a augmenté. Au regard de cette histoire, je présente l’évolution des lois; je recherche et définis les trois grands genres d’exploitation entre le Maroc et la France, et j’explique la manière dont les organisations non-gouvernementales, l’aide gouvernementale, et les bénévoles travaillent toujours pour éliminer ces atrocités commises contre des innocents. Mon projet est personnel parce que je connais et je fais du bénévolat avec des victimes depuis l’âge de onze ans. Avec cette étude, j’espère pouvoir partager ma passion pour mettre fin à ce traitement vicieux et inhumain des enfants.
